THE 2025 TOYOTA 4RUNNER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED IN AMERICA

It has been a long while since Toyota introduced the sixth-generation 4Runner, which made its debut in April last year. Toyota only started accepting orders during the last quarter of 2024, while production started in December. Deliveries are expected to begin early in 2025, and Toyota appears to be keeping that promise as a number of 2025 4Runner units have been sighted by 4Runner6G forum members at US ports.

Torque  317-465 lb-ft

There were two ports at which the new 4Runner was spotted. The Heritage Blue one, seen at the top of this page, was caught in Portland, Oregon, which appears to be a TRD Off-Road Premium variant, while the other sightings were at Port Oahu in Hawaii, where three Toyota SUVs had been seen atop a vehicle carrier. There were more varieties there, with two SR5s included, in various colors, namely Everest (TRD Off-Road), Ice Cap, and Underground.

These Are Pure Combustion 4Runners

The Toyota 4Runner underwent a major transformation for its sixth iteration. The 2025 model lineup has also grown to a total of 12 trims, including new trims such as Platinum and Trailhunter. With the move to the TNGA-F platform, every aspect of the off-roader SUV has been updated, but just like the Tacoma, the biggest change is in the engines available. Toyota foregoes the V6 for a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder called i-FORCE, while a hybrid MAX version is the exclusive setup for the top-spec models.

However, those who have ordered the electrified Toyota models will need to exercise a bit more patience. Toyota has previously confirmed that the production of hybrid models will begin next month. With that timeline, expect the arrival of the i-FORCE MAX hybrid models (the Limited, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and Platinum trims) toward the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The In-Demand Toyota Off-Roader

The Toyota 4Runner is quite popular with American buyers, with the automaker consistently selling well over 100,000 units of the off-roader SUV each year. We expect that the model will retain its popularity with the new-generation model, especially considering that it remains a bargain despite the price increase that came with the model change. If you're in the market for one, we believe the TRD Off-Road Premium i-FORCE MAX offers the best value among the trim options. Just be wary of markups, though, as is the case with popular models in the US.
