BARN FIND HOARD OF 21 CHEVY CORVETTES IS GOING UP FOR AUCTION

Like many acquaintances across the world, Bill Slaven and his friend Bob shared a passion for cars — a passion that helped cement the bond between them for more than half a century. In their case, one particular object of desire was the Chevrolet Corvette, with Slaven and his pal spending six decades buying up and driving copies of the American sports car across the country.

Despite their decades-long love of motor vehicles, apparently Bob wasn't quite aware of the extent of this collection before Bill’s passing. As it turns out, Slaven had banked away a number of the Corvettes he’d purchased over the years, with most vehicles spending the last 30 years or more untouched. Now that Slaven has passed away, his friend is working with VanDerBrink Auctions to give other Corvette enthusiasts a chance to own some barn-find classics.

The star of the collection is a 1953 model, one of only 225 thought to still remain from the Corvette’s debut year. The car has lost its original Polo White over Red color scheme over the years, donning a green body with a black interior and soft top. It's currently a project car, having spent the last 49 years in storage. The 'Vette has only done 33,298 miles however, and retains its numbers matching Blue Flame inline-six and 2-speed Powerglide.

Other highlights include a numbers-matching C2-gen Corvette Stingray — one of only 85 cars optioned with AC. There’s also a 1967 big block C2, as well as a number of well-preserved C3 'Vettes of all shapes and conditions. Most of the cars are equipped with automatics, and the seller does note that none of the cars should be considered runners.

As with many gearheads, the collecting isn't limited to entire cars, either. Slaven’s collection is full of a number of rare parts, both used and new old stock. These include items like numerous famed “Fulie” fuel injection system, four-speed transmissions, and the unobtainable S-Tube Air Cleaner Parts.

The entire collection of cars and parts will be offered at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, Wisconsin, on October 5, 2024. Interested buyers can bid on some of the units online at the link provided here, but you’ll want to be there in person to score the best deals.
