HEAR THE LAMBORGHINI HURACAN SUCCESSOR'S 10,000-RPM V-8 FIRE UP

Lamborghini is set to debut the successor to the beloved Huracan supercar on August 16, but we still have no idea what the car will be called or how it will look. What we do know, though, is that it will be powered by a high-revving, twin-turbo V-8. In a new teaser posted Monday, Lamborghini gives us an idea of the sounds the new engine will make as it fires up.

The video, which Lamborghini shared across multiple social channels, begins with a Gallardo running on a dyno. The clip shows a clear shot of that car's tachometer, then cuts quickly to a Huracan on the same dyno. After a quick shot of a badge denoting the Huracan's V-10 power, that car's tachometer is also seen. At around 9000 rpm, the clip suddenly changes. Sirens blare, and a shot zoomed in on another digital tachometer shows the gauge breaking past its limits as it stretches past 10,000 rpm. Finally, from silence, we hear the new V-8 fire up.

The beefy noise tells us little about the final car, but we know from a previous announcement that the engine will rev into the five digits. A peak output of 788 hp arrives between 9000 and 9750 rpm, while torque peaks at 538 lb-ft between 4000 and 7000 rpm. The total system includes three electric motors, meaning that the car will join the V-12 Revuelto as the second hybrid supercar in the brand's portfolio.

We do not know what the next Lamborghini will be called, but the supercar maker has for quite some time. The rest of us will find out when the car debuts during Monterey Car Week on August 16.
